For what ages do you currently offer programming?
We only serve children from ages 4 through 18 years of age. Organized by age, our programs give each student the opportunity to learn with their peers. KIDS level is Pre-school through 3rd grade. JUNIOR level is Grades 4-8 and the HIGH SCHOOL level is grades 9-12.
What will my child learn at TSSYT?
Your child will be taught CORRECT vocal techniques, basic music theory, choreography and stage direction by degreed professional musicians and choreographers with over 20 years of teaching/directing experience. Because Mrs. Springer is the Director/Music Director of ALL of our shows, there is a CONTINUITY from program to program. You and your child always know what to expect as the techniques taught in class and lessons are directly carried over on to the stage.
What kind of shows do you choose to produce?
We choose FAMILY FRIENDLY shows based on teaching kids, with positive messages and BIG casts that offer many roles for all ranges of experience. You will not see excessive profanity, inappropriate sexual themes, or 'push the envelope' issues on our stage. EVER.
What if my child has no experience?
Fantastic! We LOVE new students at TSSYT! No experience is ever required of ANY of our students! No one is required to audition for any program and we do not cut from our casts. We only hold auditions for the main roles in each show. We will train your child in every aspect of musical theater production, from vocals, choreography, staging, and set design to costuming and prop development. Involving the students in every aspect of the production creates a feeling of ownership and pride in the EXCELLENCE that they have created.
Why is your program so much cheaper than others in our area?
We believe in keeping our costs low so that EVERYONE from our community can participate. Our healthy scholarship program ensures that no student is turned away due to financial hardship. We have an amazing staff of dedicated professionals and trustworthy volunteers who are dedicated to our students. Our low price DOES NOT reflect the HIGH quality program that we offer. We simply believe in working really hard for our students because they deserve it, not for our financial gain.
How is TSSYT serving this wide range of students and ensuring they all get a positive experience?
We work above and beyond to create exceptional professional-feeling productions for EVERY student, in every age group. We treat EVERY show the same, providing quality costuming, professional grade lighting and sound technology, and exceptional, age appropriate choreography for ALL of our shows, for ALL of our students. A "KIDS" level show is shorter, but we don't treat it any differently than our full stage 2 and 1/2 hour long high school shows- because it's not 'just a KIDS show' to those little ones. If it is important to them, it is important to us!
